360° Ambiosonic sound recording!
The Rode SoundField NT-SF1 is a 360° ambisonic microphone. Designed to provide a clear and accurate reproduction of complete 360 degrees sound. Perfect for recording VR, Film Production, and audio for Video Games. Featuring four true-condenser cardioid capsules arranged in a tetrahedral array, capturing the entire spherical soundfield. While the special microphone cable breaks out into four standard male XLR connectors. Allowing you to then record four separate tracks for the complete audio experience.
Additionally, you can manipulate your sound in postproduction by using the free SoundField by RODE plug-in processor. Allowing you to adjust the mic’s position, directivity, and rotation. Then, create a full 7.1.4 surround-sound mix or 360 head-track-compliant soundscape for VR applications. So whether you’re recording music, vocals or sound effects; the Rode SoundField gives you endless flexibility and sonic quality.
The groundbreaking TF-45C capsule
At the heart of the NT-SF1 is the brand-new TF-45C true-condenser capsule. Designed in-house at RODE's Sydney headquarters, this groundbreaking new capsule is machined to tolerances of less than 1 micron in the company's state-of-the-art fabrication facility. The result is a capsule that delivers astonishing clarity, sonic purity, and exceptionally low noise. Four of these capsules — each with a subcardioid polar pattern (slightly more omnidirectional than cardioid) — are mounted in a tetrahedral array (A-Format) on the NT-SF1 to capture and generate the sum-and-difference B-Format components, which are processed by the SoundField by RODE plug-in processor in post production.
The NT-SF1 comes in a full kit, including a 10-pin XLR to 4 x 3-pin XLR mic cable, custom suspension shockmount, blimp-style windshield and furry wind cover. It is all shipped in a beautiful presentation box.
Designed and made in Australia and the first portable microphone of its kind. With the Rode SoundField NT-SF1, you can capture a full environmental soundscape. Perfect for filmmakers, virtual reality and video games.
